Model Jet Engine TR900: the turbofan in cutaway
A cutaway jet engine that explains the turbofan
Airliners are powered by turbofans, and this model jet engine shows the complete layout. At the front, the large fan draws in air. Some of it bypasses the engine core, while the rest passes through the compressor stages, then the combustion chamber and the turbine, before leaving through the exhaust nozzle. The cutaway view lets you follow that path with your eyes. The rear chamber lighting, red or blue depending on the version chosen, evokes combustion.
An original gift for aviation fans
Private pilot, engineer, aerospace student or simply an aircraft enthusiast: this aircraft engine model is a gift out of the ordinary. 3D printed in PLA at 1:8 scale, it sits on a desk or shelf and instantly draws questions. It bridges decor and science, and makes it easy to explain how a 400-tonne aircraft manages to take off.
