What is a kids drone?

A drone for kids is a small quadcopter designed to be flown indoors and in the garden by a beginner: light foam or caged bodies that survive crashes, altitude hold so it hovers on its own, headless mode so left is always left, and one button take-off and landing. Most weigh under 250 g, fly 6 to 16 minutes per battery, and come with a spare battery and propellers.

Who is this collection for?

🚁

For a child who wants to fly

From 8 upwards, or 6 with an adult for the caged models. Altitude hold and headless mode mean the first flight ends in a landing, not a crash.

🎁

For a gift that gets everyone outside

Parents and grandparents who want an afternoon in the park, not on the sofa. Two batteries, a charger, and the whole family takes turns.

πŸ“Έ

For a teenager or a beginner adult

The camera drones and the RC jets for anyone who wants a first taste of aerial video without spending hundreds.

How to choose a drone for a child

Match the drone to the age and the space. Younger pilots need a cage and altitude hold; older ones want a camera and range. Weight decides whether you need to register it.

Drones under 250 g flown for fun need no FAA registration, only the free TRUST safety test. Heavier drones must be registered with the FAA. Every product page gives the weight.

The science in two lines

Four propellers, two spinning clockwise and two counterclockwise, cancel each other's torque; speeding some up and slowing others tilts the drone and steers it. A gyroscope and a barometer feed the flight controller hundreds of times a second to keep it level and at height.

Drones under 250 g flown purely for fun do not need FAA registration, but recreational pilots must pass the free TRUST safety test. Drones of 250 g and over must be registered with the FAA. Check the weight on the product page.
Between 6 and 16 minutes per battery depending on the model. Most come with a spare battery; charging takes about an hour.
The caged and foam drones, yes: they bounce off walls and furniture. Larger camera drones and the RC plane are for outdoors on a calm day.
Foam and caged models shrug it off. Spare propellers are included with most drones, and our customer service can supply extras.
